War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

5.0

a very easy to read classic and defiantly worth to read at least once!

i have read this book a few times now and always discover something new, find another character likable or dislikable but always love tolstoys realistic writing and world view.

tolstoy really was an author for the common man, writing his stories in a way that while it’s easy to read it still gives you information and great characters and yes a challenge since it’s not a short book and writing a book during a war time is clearly not the easiest book to read but somehow tolstoy does manages to write it all very easy without simplifying it!

there are some sections that can get a bit boring - for me it’s mostly the very specific war talk - and of course it’s not one of those books with strong female leads or characters but i still enjoy it all.

it’s funny - which i think a lot of people don’t expect or talk about!- and mostly fast paced and in most moments one of those books that make feel as if i am flying through the pages.

if you never read this book??
read it!
give it 200 pages and see if you really don’t get along with it before giving up!

just give it a try!

thanks for the great buddy read courtney!
