I loved the writing style, I read this book so slowly because I had to soak in every word. I wish I was reading it on kindle so I could have highlighted so many good quotes to share. Living in Northern VA my whole life, I learned a lot about this area in Virginia I never knew about. I saw some reviews talk about how it plays into stereotypes for the people who live in that area, I wouldn’t know anything about that. But the topic on opioid addiction hit hard for me, having a mom who struggles with opioid addiction I had to put the book down at times when it got to be too much to read about. It felt realistic. Reading from a character who felt like he was destined to be a fuck up his whole life, became a fuck up because of how he grew up. He got his shit together because he felt like he had no one but himself, so he needed to take care of himself, and that was very inspiring.
