Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson

5.0

This book is the perfect mix of funny, emotional, and magical. It's not Brandon Sanderson's favorite Secret Project so far for nothing. Through the story's exploration of having odd jobs in magical worlds, the intertwined worlds of Yumi and Painter were created. I love how the assumptions about how their worlds are connected unfold slowly through many theories until we discover the truth, but it's also magical how the characters themselves grow through their adventures and deepen their connections with one another. This was a lovely audiobook to listen to and I recommend that you make sure to view the artwork created for the book whenever it's mentioned in the narration (and not skip ahead to spoil the story!) here, but as the artwork is beautiful, I made sure to also get a printed copy of the book and enjoy my re-read in physical book format one day.
