Lord of Eternal Night by Ben Alderson
5.0
I think this has been my favourite Ben Anderson book so far! It confirmed my belief that any fairytale can be made even more fun if you make it gay!
Both of the mcs are so intriguing and I was gripped by their story from the very start.
Marius is such a great interpretation of ‘the beast’. I loved the way his true personality was slowly revealed and his back story was unexpectedly heartbreaking.
Jack is a fun twist on the typical ‘hero’ of a story. I loved his character development throughout the book.
The pacing of the relationship between Marius and Jack is perfectly timed and the generous helpings of spice are well placed and very well written!
I’d definitely recommend this to anyone that likes fantasy, paranormal books. It’s particularly great for people that might struggle with complex worlds and characters as everything here is rooted in familiar tales and folklore. That being said, I thought it was quite a refreshing retelling, it doesn’t feel stale or cheesy at all!
