Capital in the Twenty-First Century by Thomas Piketty

3.0

Took me a while because it’s a bit dry though considering the subject I shouldn’t have been surprised. It’s a French neoliberal analysis of economic issues which tries to deal with it in a neoliberal way. Points out that economic and wealth inequality are issues but the solutions presented are just progressive taxes, which while needed, don’t fix the issues. Author invokes Marx with the title but even admits that he hasn’t read him but occasionally brings it up in the text. It’s a good read to understand patches on the current economic system but nothing that’s going to fix long term issues.
