Foster by Claire Keegan
5.0
I need to read this in physical form at least twice again.
The novella, similar to the short story format, is one that is hard to get right, though not as hard as the short story. There are only a handful that I would deem perfect. With more space to tease out details and add more colour, the novella is more forgiving and gives the author more time to develop a beautiful tale.
In Foster, Claire Keegan, has done just that. It is several lives thrown into vignette but in stark, compelling, heartbreaking detail.
