The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi
4.0
By no means a literary work, but it’s an enjoyable, nerdy, Godzilla-filled read that I could just let myself fall into and not have to put much work in. It has a unique and moving plot, told by a narrator who has a casual millennial voice.
This book is exactly what it promises to be: a sci-fi adventure that’s gripping with some relevant societal critiques but overall just focused on telling an entertaining adventure story.
4/5 for not trying to overhype itself, and being just the unwinding book I needed after a slew of heavier novels.
