The Last Colony: A Tale of Race, Exile and Justice from Chagos to The Hague by Philippe Sands

emotional hopeful informative inspiring reflective sad fast-paced

4.5

In The Last Colony, the Author has constructed a deeply emotional and accurate account of one of the most obscure subjects of international law and relations. The way Sands has approached the issue – both personally, as a practitioner, and as an academic – shows a felt care for the human lives behind this tragic history of colonial imperialism.

As an international law practitioner, I did not find the sections on international law and international relations challenging. Despite that, I believe they are easily accessible to everyone, and that is one of the main merits of the author.

Overall, an excellent read.
