Being Mortal by Atul Gawande

has to be truly the most disturbing, hard to digest book I’ve ever come across. Facing your own mortality and end of your times isn’t as easy and smooth sailing as depicted in scriptures and allegories.

Modern medicine is a good thing in a bad way. Science has progressed while social science is trailing behind. We are incapacitated to choose. Our old age ethics and moralities are failing us.

Its a book that truly should be read by anyone who wants to make it to the old age. It’s the book about senility and debility.

We know we’ll die. But How and When is a big question. Most of us will always have to face the question about How do we intend to die? And it surely is the most disturbing choice we’ll ever make.

Do I want to die on my own terms or the terms dictated by hospitals and doctors??? That’s the question. To be or not to be.
