This was such a cute story! Fake dating is probably my favorite trope but a lot of the time the reasons behind it don’t feel real. This was an instance where I felt like it made sense and benefited the main characters equally. I really liked the characters and pace of the story. I understood them both and their struggles were real and relatable (to an extent). Even when I got frustrated, I wasn't mad at them because their reasons and feelings were valid. There was a great illustration of someone who’s felt the loss or disconnect from their culture and home. Seeing Eliza work through and overcome those struggles was my favorite development. My first Ann Liang novel and I plan on checking out her other work.
