A Worthy Opponent by Katee Robert
3.0
There were a lot of things I liked and there were a lot of things I didn’t. I loved the representation. I thought Tink and Hook are surface level great characters. The problem has to do with the insecurities they have. It’s natural to have insecurities, and I LOVE when characters can talk through them in books, but Tink’s trust issues were PERVASIVE. She brought them up to Hook, he did his best to reassure her, she wouldn’t believe him, and the process repeated itself through the entirety of the book.
Also, if you’re reading this book, you’re reading it for the smut. I had a hard time with the way it was written. I feel as though the characters were too in-their-own-head the entire time. I haven’t noticed this with other Katee Robert books, but it was hard to read through because the characters were analyzing their emotional states to the point I forgot that there was anything else happening.
Decent concept, but Electric Idol is a better executed version of the same sort of thing.
