Ana María and the Fox by Liana De la Rosa

I love that we are getting more historicals with POC as protagonists, especially Latinx characters. It was interesting to have the French occupation of Mexico as such an important part of the historical background of the book, because it's not very common in historical romance.

The chemistry between the main characters was there from the beginning, and the longing and pinning, especially from the hero was so fun to read about. This was definitely a slow burn; the marriage of convenience happened late in the story, even though it was mentioned in the synopsis. However, since the connection and chemistry were there, I didn't mind too much.

Plot-wise, there were some pacing inconsistencies. Not a lot was happening at the beginning and a lot happened very quickly at the end. But overall, it was an enjoyable reading experience.

Also, I really appreciated the relationship between the sisters and how they grow closer throughout the book.
