Steal the Light by Lexi Blake
4.0
The first book in an urban fantasy/paranormal series which sees the intrepid heroine and human Zoey teaming up with a witch and werewolf, and of course not forgetting her former childhood sweetie David who just happens to be a vampire, determined to do his best and protect her from his dark new world and keep her at arms length while doing so. Together they make up a fantastic relic hunting team for whoever engages their skills. When on her latest case to find the light of Alhorra, Zoey encounters a faery Prince, Devinshea who just might be the one to mend her broken heart but before she can put it to the test, she finds out her new client is actually a demon and failure to find his artefact could cost her her soul.
There was a great flow to this book with lots of action, humour and steam. The characters were all well rounded with depth, and each brought something to the story. I loved Zoey’s feistiness and there was a hint of mystery about just who she would end up with, David the broody vampire with who she had history or would she choose the faery Prince Charming in the shape of Devin. I can’t wait to find out as this series progresses.
As a rule, I normally prefer dual narration over a sole performer, but Kitty Bang did a fantastic job voicing both the male and female characters in Steal the Light to the extent I forgot she was the only narrator. She did a great job bringing Steal the Light to life and making this audio book an enjoyable listening experience.
