The Library Book by Susan Orlean
4.0
(listened as audibook)
What's about?
It's a non-fiction book about libraries, told through a focus on the Los Angeles library, with the 1986 fire at it's main branch the main "hook".
There's a lot of narrative, with the author in the story. About 1/2 of the book is modern day and the future of libraries, 1/4 is the Los Angeles library fire, and 1/4 is the history of the Los Angeles library system.
What did I think?
I really liked it. A non-fiction book that is as interesting as fiction. I really liked going to the library as a kid. I think that they do a great service for the community. Liked how the book celebrates them. The narrator does a good job. Language is overly flowery at times.
