A very nice read. It does fill you with rage at about half of the characters, but the rage dissipates comfortably towards the end.
In essence a slow character study of a group of people, mostly of the narrator's uncle, Jegor, and Foma, an asshat. Honestly in my opinion, the only sensible characters were Nastenka and Sasha. Which is a bold choice for the time. The narrator is a little fussy, which leads to backstory on everyone (literally everyone). Very visible that this was originally intended as a play.
Still, a very comfortable read.
