The sequel to, “A Not So Meet Cute”, but this time it was centered on Kelsey, and JP. This book had, workplace romance, force proximity, kind of enemies to lovers, Kelsey wanted a committed relationship, whereas JP had commitment phobia. Between the snarky banter, hurling insults, and trying to deny their obvious attraction to each other, Kelsey and JP had their work cut out for them.

Before reading this story, I wasn’t sure what to expect other than enjoying another of Meghan’s books. In the beginning, it was made clear that Kelsey wanted nothing to do with JP, and JP tried to distance the idea of being with Kelsey by using tactics of annoying her, pushing her buttons, etc. Kelsey was looking to settle down, maybe find a romantic partner, and have her own happy ending like her sister, Lottie (from the first book) found with her man, Huxley (also from first book and JP’s older brother). I will say that before reading I heard from a lot of people that they didn’t like how Kelsey was in the book and how much of a “shrew” she was. I will say that I wasn’t expecting her character to be that way, I imagined Kelsey to be a bit more open minded. Sure from Kelsey’s point of view, she wanted nothing to do with JP and certainly made her thoughts about him very clear to him and everyone, but at times even from the beginning, I was thinking, “ok Kelsey, we get it, you don’t like JP, but maybe pull back on the insults and take it easy on him.”

On the bright side, Kelsey was able to realize the error of her ways and apologized to JP, and in her own wacky way tried to befriend him in order to make things between them nicer, especially since they were working and living together for the time being while in San Francisco. Although once Kelsey and JP seemed to be getting along, it seemed like JP was switching between moods of being nice to Kelsey to then being grumpy. I get that he was trying to deflect Kelsey since he had a crush on her and what not but even I had to agree with Kelsey that JP was back and forth on how he acted at times. Regardless, both JP and Kelsey had their fair share of flaws, and all I wanted was to see them work things out.

I absolutely love Meghan’s books and her writing style so much that I can always picture the characters speaking to me whenever it’s told in their perspective chapters such as, Kelsey talking about her own insecurities, her hopes of finding love or JP having feelings for Kelsey, but also being angry at the idea that Kelsey sees him a certain way. Overall, I love it, and of course with this book I found myself laughing at the hilarious situations that Meghan created for Kelsey and JP. One scene, if not a couple of scenes come to mind that not only had me laughing, but downright made my jaw drop and be like, “OH MY GOD!” SO GOOD! Definitely enjoyed the humor in this book.

Kelsey was the romantic, wanting love, commitment, a person who would love at her in a loving matter. Whereas JP was opposed to relationships, but secretly wanted a shot at being more with Kelsey. Despite JP’s initial efforts to not let Kelsey affect him so much, I found it sweet that JP had always harbored a crush over Kelsey, and through his perspective got to see more of his personality and deeper thoughts on what he wanted with Kelsey, and even wanted for his own life. I also enjoyed the little romantic comedy references of, “When Harry Met Sally” throughout the story. Not to mention how JP even re-enacted his own “Meg Ryan in the diner scene from When Harry Met Sally” moment during his blind date with Kelsey, totally unexpected but funny.

I loved seeing JP’s romantic side come out with Kelsey. I feel like JP did have a romantic side and being around Kelsey, he wanted to show her he wasn’t some “playboy, whatever guy”, he was an honest to god amazing man, and showed Kelsey he was attentive, super thoughtful, and of course made sure to challenge Kelsey and poke fun at her just to rile her up haha. JP showed Kelsey through little things she mentioned or things she liked that he had been paying attention to her, and once they finally got together I was giddy and happy for them. Of course, there quality sexy time was pretty great for them too!

This book had a little bit of everything that catered to everyone’s likes from, romantic comedy, billionaire romance, forced proximity/ roommates, SPICE! Possessive Alpha male, and a sassy female lead, and more. Once again, not only did I fall in love with another one of Meghan’s books, but I’ve fallen in love with another fictional man… that man being JP Cane (sigh) if only he were real *wipes tears away. While some people had mixed feelings on this book, I truly did enjoy every bit of it and Kelsey and JP were funny, snarky, romantic, sweet, thoughtful, and loving.
