Memory in Death by J.D. Robb
4.0
A solid entry, with a victim no one likes, and an intriguing layer to Eve’s backstory that is rarely touched on. Roarke plays a solid foil for Eve, demonstrating the protectiveness that makes him such a great romantic lead, while still being willing and able to step back and let Eve lead. Taking off a star because the holiday setting led to fewer appearances by the supporting cast. Peabody and McNab get a slightly ridiculous storyline involving a quick fight-and-makeup that lasts under 24 hours, before being quickly dispatched off to Scotland for the holidays. A holiday party at the top of the story allows quick updates for some others, but this story is Eve’s from start to finish.
