This is my second reading of this book and it is just as fire as the first time I read it in 2020. Leonard Pitts Jr is a fantastic author who is not mentioned much and his books should be read and plugged by everyone. He writes historical fiction with a lot of emotion. This book is going to have you in a chokhold and you won't want to put it down. I can't gush enough about this book and his others - Freeman and Grant Park. They are all must reads!
