When you discover where Zack Snyder got his ideas for Man of Steel... I'n not much into origin retelings, specially when a lot of them were done for the same superhero. However, even as we're speaking about one of the most powerful superheroes ever, this tale is one you can connect with very easily because it depicts a very vulnerable Superman, discovering and living an humanity that is alien to him. Great story.
