I had fun reading this! There was a lot I enjoyed with it. The characters, the world, etc — It was fast paced and character centered which I love lmao. I know world building is what gets a lot of people to give this a bad review, but I personally didn’t see an issue. I am not one to focus on the world building as long as I love the characters.

The only reason I cannot give this five stars is just a few reasons. Sometimes it was a little too childish at points and I felt taken out of the story. The main thing was when Xaden’s betrayal is shown and he’s arguing with Violet and keeps calling her “Violence”. The nickname I’m fine with, but I feel like when she’s actually upset because he omitted info and now they’re fighting to survive … maybe don’t use the nickname then lol.

Also, it did feel like insta-love to me which I didn’t like. One second they’re rivals, then they have forced proximity because of the dragons, and BAM! they’re massively in love and obsessed with each other. Xaden’s chapter in particular made me cringe a bit lmao. I would’ve liked a bit more of a slow burn, especially if this series is going to be five books long.

I did like this a lot though! I am excited to read the next installments especially with the twist at the end. There were a lot of shocking moments and fun times that made this an engaging read.
