The standout part of this collection is  the title piece, “War of the Foxes.” Instantaneously draws you in with deep meanings and countless metaphors. I also very much enjoyed the part where different historical paintings were referenced as I got to look them up myself and visualize what Siken was attempting to visualize.
Some poems did fall flat for me personally though and felt just thrown in, but even the least enjoyable poems were still nice to read.
