This Is How You Lose the Time War by Max Gladstone, Amal El-Mohtar
4.0
A perfect book to ring in the new year
This book is fascinating and unlike anything I've ever read before. Barely anything happens and yet everything happens. It's both confusing and full of mesmerizing lyricism and poetic prose. I think it's best to go into it without knowing much, it's one of those books you just have to experience.
I'm unsure what to say about this that hasn't already been said. I understand why many people don't like it - the prose was at times hard to follow and I felt like plot lines and metaphors were going over my head. I almost gave up in the beginning, but decided to keep going, and I'm so glad I did. It really hooks you, and I fell in love with this story and these characters.
This is one I'm probably going to be thinking about for a long time, and will need to read again.
