The story is dark, thought provoking, and immensely fascinating all at once. I did find myself overly frustrated with different characters throughout the entirety of this read, and not just the blatantly evil ones. But that is a big reason this gets my 5 star rating: the author did a fantastic job of evoking such strong emotions from me with few lulls. I'd really love to explore the magic system in more depth, and I enjoyed the fact that there were histories of the races with the promise of much more depth in future books. I can't wait to keep going with the series and further immerse myself into this world of unbalanced chaos and Resistance badasses!
