If I Stay by Gayle Forman
5.0
I had been waiting for this book for months. Finally, on Friday, I got the email that it was available and downloaded it immediately. I read over half of it the first night.
What seems to be a beautiful day, full of family adventure, turns into a truly horrible day. Mia, the only survivor in a car accident with her family is having an out of body experience. The story is filled with memories of Mia's life that are so beautifully written, you can see her family, and feel their happiness.
The book was written in a very interesting manner. The entire book is one chapter, broken into sub chapters. I was devastated when it ended, because the cliffhanger ending is the worst possible kind when I'm not waiting for the second book to be available for me to check out.
The characters are beautifully created, each one comes to life through Mia's memories. I've never been a fan of classical music, but Mias's descriptions make me want to overload my iPhone with the music she played, or loves.
I love books that are written in first person because I feel like I am included in the story, that I am the main character. The book ended much more quickly than I anticipated, and I can't wait to get the second one.
