Women of Good Fortune by Sophie Wan
3.0
This was an audiobook I got during Libro.fm's 2 for 1 sale. This book is about a high society Shanghai wedding, and the reluctant bride's plan with her friends to steal all the gift money. Each woman has her own reason for wanting the money and varying levels of motivation to make this heist work.
The book summary mentions that all are fed up with how society treats women. That is definitely a prominent theme in the story but the main characters seemed to try and sell it as their significant others/men in their lives were terrible. When in reality, all of them were actually pretty great and kind to these women? For me this book was just missing a little something. I could have done with a different conflict between our conspirators ( trying not to give spoilers) because the one in the book fell a little flat for me. Honestly I liked all the side characters much more than the main trio.
