Only The Small Bones by C.P. Harris
5.0
William • Ryan
….
“…our bones would forever be small.” ♾️.
….
I asked myself one question when I finished the story of William and Ryan. “How do you read your books Kat?…”. I’m a bleeding empath. And for the first time I feel like there’s no shame in that. I will forever choose to feel too strongly then not feel at all. This one will stay with me for a while. A very long, never ending while. I was left with the sound of a hauntingly beautiful violin playing in my ears. There is much I want tell you but I won’t because I am one step of spoiling it all because of feeling so fiercely. What I definitely can tell you, how this book made me feel.
There’s something unique about C.P Harris’s writing that I’ll be forever protective of. You don’t only get a story told. I always feel like I am being pulled into the very soul of each character. Hurting and hoping with them, triumphing at the ends and begins of it all.
Every word in Only The Small Bones was written with a higher purpose. Going into this book you need to fully understand the depths of fear, guilt and trauma most of all. Every passage holds power, every turn of phrase opens up a secret imprisoned deep inside of these two beautiful man. Just follow them closely, with a heart wide open. The sensitivity of the matter was handled with the utmost care. The intimacy beautifully portrayed, lingering touches, never more than ready for. Their individual healing still resonates with me. How only a look can hold such strength. All-consuming. Unforgettable.
If you’re one of these readers that doesn’t read trigger warning and tropes. For the sake of it all, please do 🖤. Thank you.
(Xavier, baby boy needs to be loved. We need some CP type of healing.)

“I was a man determined to burn for his sins...” // “The more fire he displayed, the more fascinating he became.” // “I was suddenly in the mood to play again. In the mood to remember why I’d begun playing to begin with.” // “Broken! Broken! Broken!” // “More than ever I needed him to understand me… but it still felt like he’d slid a blade between my ribs when he turned and walked away.” // “His spot.” // “…and he shut the door in my face.” // “He knew. He knew what I’d been trying to hide from myself.” // “As your friend, do I get to know the origin of the graveyard on your back?”// “I tried to gauge the timber of his voice from the small molecule of sound.” // “I whispered, leaning into what I knew would forever be my favorite part of him.” // “Do that again.” // “Why does your touch, your gaze, your anger, and even your spurts of joy always feel like… more?” // “We were on fire, or maybe it was the world around us that burned, searing all our inhibitions to ash.” // “Either he didn’t know how to play hard-to-get, or he simply didn’t care to.” // “I’d never seen anything as raw and innocent and beautiful as Ryan letting go.” // “…hidden beneath the soil and in between the beauty, lay the bones of everything stolen.” // “I’ll keep you.” // “I wish he had…” // “They didn’t win.” // “There was safety in my silence…” // “I’m ready.” // “Like storm clouds on a rainy day.” …
