At first, I thought this book was going to be similar to A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, but Chapter 2 wiped that theory away. While the creature outside the window is the horrifying entity our characters fear for most of the book, the cosmic horror really picks up in the final two chapters.

One storytelling device I particularly enjoyed was that each chapter is told from a different POV, but focuses on the events of the previous chapter from a different perspective. This way, we understand how multiple characters think and feel about the events they're going through.
