The pinnacle of fantasy to be sure. The world building is astonishing. Middle Earth in the third age is on decline and there are traces of forlorn days all around. The really big themes for the trilogy are set here, and the focus in the first volume lies in comradeship and to be brave when you are afraid.
Above all this is a tale to lose yourself in and cherish every second that you travel alongside the fellowship.
