Hollow City by Ransom Riggs

5.0

This was so good! In just a few days that Hollow City covers so much happens that there really is no dull moments. There´s action and adventure and world building, which is something I wanted more from the first book. Though there still is a lot of unanswered questions about the peculiar universe. Hopefully Library of Souls will give the answers! The big plot twist in the end is brilliant, I really didn´t see it coming at all. And the ending overall is absolutely crazy and makes me long for continuation.
I´ve heard many people say that they feel as if the story is being forced to go with the photos. Of course it´s likely that Ransom Riggs has come up with many details by searching for the pictures, but in my opinion these details go well with the general story. Though with this book I felt like there was many unneeded photos. More than in Miss Peregrine´s Home for Peculiar Children. Then again, they do set up a certain atmosphere even if they don´t bring anything new to the story.
For me Hollow City was a fun adventure, not very creepy, but suspenseful. Jacob´s character developed enormously and I got very attached to all the children. The end is great as I said, but I also feel like after all the trouble the children went through, they didn´t really get anywhere from the beginning. Seems like a classic middle book problem, though it doesn´t bother me. I´m just exited to see how Library of Souls is going to wrap up this wonderful, peculiar story.
