Seeds Volume One by M.M. Kin

On one hand, I liked how feisty Persephone was in this version of the myth. On the other hand, I didn't very much like Hades upping the creep factor on his "courting" of Persephone, and his blatant disregard for Persephone's say on where she wants to spend her time. Like, he just fucking picked her up, took her to his place without consent, like she's some sort of property, and he just expected her to be okay with her living in a place completely unfamiliar to her for the rest of her life. But I guess when you factor in that things were way worse in the actual myth, how things are with the Hades in this version of the myth seem much peachier.
Aside from that, this version of the myth was actually really well-written and well-researched. The beginning of the novel was such a good introduction to the world that we're going to be introduced to later on as the story develops. Like, it paved the way for a good story to unfold. I also liked how rich the atmospheres were in the book. I was very impressed with the vibrant writing. This version of the myth, although having really nice scenes (of the sexual kind) and good setting, didn't really incite that much of a "I FUCKING LOVE THIS BOOK IF I AM TO DIE PUT THIS IN MY GRAVE WITH ME" feeling. Still a good read, though.
