I am super excited about this series! A private detective who is a bisexual woman--that's a first in detective fiction. And it's awesome--suspenseful, with interesting characters. I love that she sets up a lot of situations that will develop over the series. In this first book, Roxane is grieving the death of her detective father, and drinks too much. She has an on-again off again relationship with another woman, and also with an older man who was a partner of her father. She doesn't get along well with one of her brothers, who is a teetotaler. The case is resolved very satisfactorily. And it's set in Columbus, Ohio, a city I knew nothing about.
