P. Djéli Clark really has a knack for creating these fast-paced novellas with action and a story that pulls you in and leaves you wanting more because the story is that good. Here we follow Eveen, a Dead Cat Tail Assassin (helluva name), as she sets out to unalive her next target. Things quickly go wrong and now she has to figure out who set her up while running for her life. The way the characters, the world and the plot come together are incredible. My only knock on the book is some of the banter, while comical, feels out of place at times. Several times I had to go back and re-read a passage because the jump from action to banter was jarring. I recommend the audiobook. Lynette R. Freeman does a great job with the different characters.
