The Watchers by A.M. Shine
4.0
Friday evening I watched this with one of my girl friends and was ecstatic to find out what the monsters were. I woke up Saturday morning to grab us each a copy that we could start reading at the beach that same day.

This is the type of fae story I have been looking for. A story that stays true to the lore and shows that fae are not kind and are, in fact, terrifying and dangerous.
This is my first book by Shine and I was pleasantly surprised by it. The style could be a bit stunting at times, but otherwise, the story itself flowed as a whole. I found Madeline to be creepy and fae-like even before it was reveled of what she was. The little breadcrumbs were delicious.
This story is very fast-paced but does a good job of pulling you in as things take a turn for the worst almost immediately. I love the prose used throughout as it made this thrilling tale a bit poetic. There are quite a bit of mixed reviews on this book, but for me, it was a good read.
