A Lady for a Duke by Alexis Hall
4.0
Regency romance is probably one of the last genres I would ever choose to read on my own. I had heard nothing but rave reviews of this book and figured I should give it a shot. It did not disappoint! The characters were awesome, Viola being transgender was not the source of trauma or conflict in the story, and the relationship between Viola and Gracewood was relatively believable…though perhaps a bit far-fetched that he didn’t immediately realize who Viola was. The writing was really snappy, too! The book was a bit long and the last section seemed a little out of place…it was a poorly paced vector of something else important happening. But I’ll forgive the author for that because everything else was so delightful. I mean, this book is full of angst and tension, but of the best kind!
