Thomas Wildus and The Book of Sorrows by J.M. Bergen
2.0
This is a tricky one to rate because while it was not my thing, and read a little too young for me, I know and understand I am not the intended audience. I think there are a lot of middle schoolers and elementary aged kids who'd definitely enjoy something like this so I feel it might be a little unfair to rate it so low.
It's definitely a slow start with not a lot happening in the beginning but an interesting premise and general story. I think the writing is good but not amazing. I think my only real complaint besides it generally not being my thing is the dialogue felt a little off. It's hard for me to explain but it just seemed a little awkward and didn't feel quite right. I did really enjoy these characters though.
