3.5. I didn’t enjoy this one as much as his others, and I’m not sure why except that a lot of it was depicting family strife and I found it to be either unrealistic or a bit droll. Most of the book was the main character chasing a family member. I didn’t find the family members’ reasons for their actions to be compelling, and I didn’t see how the main character could think they weren’t evil. A few things along these lines just really didn’t add up to me. Aside from that and the constant 4-letter DNA sequences repeating, the story was ok. I will say this tho: the man knows how to write a proper ending. I never feel like the end came abruptly or left too many untied ends or didn’t make sense at all. Not bad, just not as great as his others.
