I definitely like this book better than the first but I wouldn’t say the writing has improved.
Everything is very stilted- sometimes it feels like the author was written into a corner, we take this abrupt turn, the story line drops and we just move onto something else.
The beginning made no sense- our FMC gets kidnapped by the bad guys who are supposed to be ultra powerful but she’s essentially able to tiptoe out of a room while they’re arguing and get away?! Setting aside the fact that these guys have super smell and could have found her immediately, when she stumbles upon something she shouldn’t have seen they just let her go?! What was the put in kidnapping her other than making your first book end on a cliffhanger?
The world building was also a mess. It felt like rules were constantly changing. It’s beaten into our heads in book one how much the Maledinni respect humans and witches but then all of sudden lol jk they hate you now too. And sex magic really?
Sometimes the tropes/omegaverse stuff made all the other annoying parts of the book worth it but not enough to continue the series.
