Making It So by Patrick Stewart
5.0
Patrick Stewart’s new memoir takes us on a journey from his childhood in Yorkshire to his early days in repertory theatre, to theatrical and Hollywood fame. I appreciated the amount of pre-Star Trek content as I’m pretty familiar with his views on Trek from convention appearances and interviews. I really enjoyed his memories of how he approached roles in his time with the RSC, and what it was like working with actors like Vivien Leigh, Ian Holm and Brian Blessed.
The Picard content at the end was a bit thin, but the TNG stuff was quite interesting and he did a good job pulling out highlights from 170+ episodes and the movies.
I appreciated the way the narrative was fairly chronological but with flash forwards and flashbacks to tie together themes. Also highly recommend listening to the audiobook to hear Stewart narrate in his own voice.
