I tried listening to this on audiobook and could not stomach finishing the rest of the book. I absolutely adore asian fantasy but the writing style was not it for me. I was certain it was YA fantasy until I saw other review stating otherwise. Had it been YA I would have given it another star, but I did not get the sense that our characters were adults, instead as if they were 16/17.

The idea was there, but being a picky reader it wasn't for me. That being said, I've seen a ton of excellent reviews so maybe this will be for you!

The narrator was not my favorite.
