Life of Pi by Yann Martel
4.0
Type of read: Travel Read.
What made me pick it up: 'Life of Pi' has been on my TBR list for awhile and during a recent visit to McKay's Books I was able to pick up a paperback copy perfect for packing along on a week-long trip to Italy.
Overall rating: I knew snippets about what to expect with 'Life of Pi' but nothing to the extent of what the book really got into. From the cover art and movie previews, I think everyone can see it's a man and a tiger on a boat. I did not understand the extent of the man and the tiger on the boat. Martel writes in such a way that made me cringe, laugh, cry, squirm...everything. I literally had one of my travel companions look at me and ask if I was ok because I was physically reacting to the words I was reading. I enjoyed 'Life of Pi' and have already recommended it to a handful of people. I'm also very happy that I've held out and haven't watched the movie yet (I do usually prefer to read the books before watching the movies) because I feel like I have so much more now by making it through these pages.
