Hello. Well, obviously I am an emotional wreck with that ending—aside from the fact that I've been picking up this book whenever I get stressed. (So you can count how many times that has happened since I started this based on the number of chapters.) But what a gift to the world A. A. Milne has given! What a trove of innocence and the wonders of childhood! Please do not underestimate these books as "merely kids' books". They mean so much to me and can mean a lot to you.
I think my appreciation for these books have increased when I read somewhere that each of the characters can be viewed to represent one of the common mental illnesses. For example, Piglet represents anxiety, Eeyore represents depression, Rabbit represents OCD, Roo representation autism, etc. Ever since I've read that, these characters became much more endearing to me and I found myself in them many times. I also think that the somewhat recent films "Christopher Robin" and "Goodbye, Christopher Robin" have added to my appreciation for these books.
Finishing this book feels like bidding an old friend a bittersweet farewell. Highly recommend.
