Elvis Between the Lines: His Quest for Higher Consciousness as Told Through His Notes by Ingrid De La O

emotional informative inspiring reflective fast-paced

4.0

“As we remember Elvis, let’s honor his passion for knowledge, his pursuit of enlightenment, and his unwavering commitment to living a life of purpose and meaning.”

While this was overall a good read, I’m not super impressed with the author’s introductions for each section of the book. They’re very basic and generic…very repetitive. I think she could’ve done more research into the individual pieces of writing/notes and tried to find context into why he wrote them or done some philosophizing on what they could’ve meant to him in his life more specifically than just saying it was about his “spiritual journey.”

There are also a couple things that she just called “notes” but that are much bigger than that, like his Jaycee Awards speech. She didn’t acknowledge that’s what those notes were written for, so that was disappointing.

However, the design of the book is absolutely gorgeous and there are so many things in here I’d never seen, quite a few of which brought me to tears. I still highly recommend reading this one, I just wanted a bit more out of it than I got.
