The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak
5.0
This story was so incredibly beautiful. It captured so many elements of immigration, nature, and the complexities of the human experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the chapters from the perspective of the fig tree. What a wonderful take that added a surprisingly profound element. Wrapping up this story I feel connected to Kostas, Defne, Meryem & Ada & most of all the tree. I’ve always wanted a tree I could build a connection with and I’m now more inspired than ever to do so. Gah! Not over how stunning this was. This has definitely become a new favorite book
