RF Kuang has done it again. This book is INCREDIBLE. As a linguistics major, I can fully appreciate all of the care and passion that went into this magic system and the world building as a whole. I love the way Kuang leaves footnotes for all of her historical references as well as about the characters' back stories; it just shows how much research and thought she put into the world of Babel.
Like The Poppy War, Babel isn't for the faint of heart - it's painful and terrifyingly realistic at times when it comes to the horrors of human nature - but that is what makes it impossible to put down. Absolutely stunning.
