Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
5.0
A truly outstanding book, written so well that you can almost smell the marsh and feel Kya's loneliness, Where the Crawdads Sing splits Into 2 stories. It tells of Kya growing up in her house in the North Carolina swamp alone, abandoned one by one by each member of her family ... and the story of Chase, local high school quarterback and child of privilege, dying under suspicious circumstances. Both stories are allowed to simmer slowly throughout the entire book, never giving much of a hint how either will end. Unlike most stories like this, it ends really strongly as well.
