I honestly knew nothing about the Mahabharata besides what little of it we covered during the Hinduism unit of my world religions class- which I took more than six years ago. Goddess of The River is a retelling of part of the epic, focusing on the story of Ganga and her son. Beautifully written, and beautifully heart wrenching.
