Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal

4.0

Type of read: Commuter Read.

What made me pick it up: Reese's Book Club Pick.

Overall rating: 'Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows' is extremely layered. There are spicy stories, love, murder/suicide, and family battles...this book has it all. I very much enjoyed the plot and storyline, it's truly a telling of finding your strength and voice and not being afraid to move forward, even when it's scary or unknown. It should be pretty apparent by the title but there are sections of this book that are erotic. It is definitely an adult-themed book. That said, I found it to be rather tastefully done. I also appreciated the variety of spice that was included and the conversations the women had about morality, enjoyment, and understanding related to the stories they told.

Just a trigger warning for my fellow audiobook listeners, if you have misophonia, this may not be the adaptation for you. The narrator, Meera Syal, did a fabulous job; however, there are quite a few clicks, smacks, and breaths that allllllllmost made me stop listening and pick up a different version.

Obviously not for everyone due to the content, but I would absolutely recommend 'Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows.'
