The Nightmare Before Kissmas by Sara Raasch

medium-paced

5.0

Picked up this one on a whim and 50 pages in I was ready to make it my entire personality. Love when that happens! Nicholas “Coal” is the oldest son of the one and only Santa Claus - a prince of Christmas who has spent his whole life training to one day take over the family business. Yet after years of little more than PR and paparazzi, Coal is no longer in love with the holiday that he once felt so much joy being a part of. Rather now he'd like nothing more than to escape and step one of said escape apparently involves a drunken kiss behind a bar with a gorgeous mystery man that leaves Coal pining - hard - for someone he's convinced he'll never find again.

The relationships in this book are *everything.* I adored the banter and ease between the Claus brothers and Iris, it felt so real and added a wonderful bit of heartbreak the disaster that Coal and Iris find themselves in. As for Hex and Coal, it was endlessly entertaining watching them circle one another, and their slowly blossoming friendship only added to the romance for me. Honestly, between the royal families, the disaster bisexual energy, and the top tier friendships, this one gave me Red, White & Royal Blue vibes and I mean that as the biggest compliment because it's another romcom I adore with all my heart. This is one of those worlds that has so much potential, and I cannot wait to see where future books take us.

The Nightmare Before Kissmas is full of flawed but loving characters and has *so much* heart that I cannot recommend it enough. Want a cozy, funny, messy read this holiday season? Well look no further. Plus! A sequel is set for release early 2025, and I'm fully prepared for it to be another book of pure delight.
