The Long Earth by Terry Pratchett, Stephen Baxter
5.0
I am so glad - SO GLAD - I didn't finish this book until the second book came out. Now, I can go straight to the next book without having to wait.
I really enjoyed the different ways that Pratchett and Baxter thought about the consequences of multiple Earths opening up and becoming available to most of the population. The fact that there were glimpses into how the economy would work (or not), and how those who can't travel to the parallel Earths (or "step") would react as the majority embraces their new ability. It felt like there was a lot crammed into this book, but it was done very well.
