Hellgoing: Stories by Lynn Coady

4.0

Lynn Coady has crafted a punchy, entertaining set of short stories about the lives of various flawed characters in situations ranging from the quotidian to the more outlandish. Coady is really good at not firing Chekhov's revolver; she sets up situations where you think the story is leading to a big reveal, only to leave the reader guessing at what it all meant. Personally I enjoyed it and appreciated that there were few easy answers in this collection. Her turn of phrase and use of metaphor is impressive without feeling overwrought.
